This is the stuff they make microchips out of. This piece started off as a 2" diameter disc, but I knocked it off the edge of my desk last week and it shattered.
It's odd stuff, almost like a combination of metal and glass.

OK, so the title has nothing to do with the photo today.
This shot is a backup one for a couple of reasons: I had my G9 with me today. Complete with a 2GB card. A colleague needed an SD card urgently. The one in the G9 was the only one I had in the office. My card is thus on holiday for the weekend... Fortunately I have several others at home :)
Tonight I decided to install a set of new hard drives in my PC, as my current ones are a bit slow and one is very nearly full. What with cleaning out the dust in the PC and reinstalling all the software, my evening has been pretty tied up.
Hence the backup shot.
