30-07-09: Rays

I got the sharp end of one of Joe Cornish's sayings on this one; "if you've seen it, you've missed it" - referring to the need to be prepared and anticipate fantastic light in landscape photos.
I shot this one out the back window, but by the time I got my shoes on and got to a cleaner view point, the light was all but gone.

25-07-09: British Summer

"Summer" being an inaccurate and somewhat variable term. "The rainy season formerly known as summer" would be a more accurate (albeit rather awkward) term.

22-07-09: Behind the lens

A different kind of "Through the Viewfinder" photo - instead of using a 60 year old TLR, use a TV camera with a studio viewfinder...
For geeks: it's a Panasonic AJ-D410AE, a DVCPRO camcorder which is rather long in the tooth now. We were feeding from 2 cameras back to a mixer and VTR. The tape is running on the camera as a backup in case anything went pear-shaped with the mixer or VTR.

21-70-09: Life on the stage...

The view from the choir stalls above the stage in Nottingham's concert hall.
The event is one of NTU's graduation ceremonies, which I'm filming this week.

A racing pigeon that seems to be lost - it's been in the village for several days now.
My sister insists it's called Gregory.

09-07-09: Organic Firework?

I've been really surprised by the dynamic range of the GR digital; I'm sure it's much greater than the G9. I'll have to make a test at some point to find out definitely...

06-07-09: Flash Flood

In the space of a few minutes Mansfield road in Nottingham becomes Mansfield lake.

I was very glad my bag has an all weather cover today. As I came down the road it was flinging it down. I came to a more sheltered area and shot a few photos until the rain slackened off a bit.
