Hydrophobic, In Part

Click image to view a bigger version

A backup photo, shot earlier this week as I was loading my stuff into the car to go to work.
I thought the beads of water on these leaves were interesting, and I wanted to capture something that marked a change in the weather.

The Morris Men

Click image to view a bigger version

A return to the village I grew up in this evening to see the annual Morris Dancing performance by @dolphin_morris.
The village has a long history of Morris Dancing, and has a plaque commemorating the 4th November 1618, when six local men were had up before the church court for “profaning the sabbath by Morris Dancing”.
A few more after the jump.

It's A Beautiful Day

Click image to view a bigger version

I'm sure the gardeners don't like it, but I was quite happy to have another nice day after the last couple of very wet days.
I went for a quick walk with my friend and her dog this evening, and was quite taken with this scene.

A Fistful Of Orchids

Click image to view a bigger version

Lucy's orchids have been out for about three months now, and they're still looking lovely.
It's silly things like this that hit you sometimes; she never got to see her plant looking as pretty as this.

Exchange Your Trajectory

Only minimal programming was indulged in today, although my wallet has been substantially lightened both by buying a suit for my sister's upcoming wedding, and then a trip to Ikea.

Extrovert

Click image to view a bigger version

The first poppy I've shot this year.
This one's a backup photo, because I'm a silly person who has spent most of the weekend so far messing with work related programming, because an idea got stuck in my head.
On the upside, my messing around was moderately successful, and my circuit breaker analyser software is further improved, and it should be easier to extend now.
Muppet.

I'm going to miss them!

It's A Lock-In

Click image to view a bigger version

It's been quite a busy day today. I was x-raying some failed equipment, which proved to be quite interesting, then sorting out an IT issue, which was not!

Put A Bit Of English On It

Click image to view a bigger version

A bit of a random one today, I was taking photos of some parts to help my colleague create CAD models, but I quite liked the way the lettering on this old vice stood out.
If I'd not been in such a rush, I'd have had a bit more of a play with this.

Micro Herbs

Click image to view a bigger version

I pinched out the tops of the stems on my basil plant the other day, as it was heading skywards at an alarming rate, and I prefer having tasty leaves to eat rather than miles of stem to look at! This seems to have had the desired effect of making it sprout lots of tiny little leaves further down the stem.

This one's a 3x macro made by focus stacking 64 individual shots with Helicon Focus. I find the process quite interesting to watch, so I've added a little time lapse video of the stack being created (after the jump) for anyone who cares.

Round The Bend

Late posting this one.
52Frames' challenge this week is "high ISO", so this one's at 12,800. I might revisit this later in the week and push the ISO envelope a bit further.

Cracking Up

Click image to view a bigger version

Both the ground and my camera, it seems.
My R5 has developed a taste for throwing errors in the last couple of days. I'll have to keep a close eye on it over the next few days - If it keeps doing this, it'll get to enjoy the pointy end of a warranty claim, as it's less than 6 months since I bought it.
I'll be gutted if there is something major wrong with it, partly because it was eye-wateringly expensive, but mostly because I love shooting with it.

Reflect Quietly

Click image to view a bigger version

I went to Rudyard Lake today for the first time. I'd never heard of it until my friend suggested it.
Very nice place, I'm sure I'll go back. Lots of boats on the lake, but very little engine noise, almost all of them seem to be either sail or electric powered.

This one's my 52 Frames submission for this week's "Water" challenge.

(ex) Pistachio

Click image to view a bigger version

I got home from work and went to town on the pistachios this evening, and wondered if I'd be able to see much in the way of salt crystals on them.
It's been a while since I dug out the macro gubbins, so it seemed like a decent opportunity.
Both are roughly 90 frame stacked shots.
This definitely gave the new laptop its first decent workout.
One more after the jump.

Fly Me To The Moon.

I've got a bit behind over the last couple of days. Back to work and it's all going at about 120mph again!
This one's a backup, shot Saturday on a rather pleasant evening walk.

Decisions, Decisions

Click image to view a bigger version

This one's my submission for this week's 52Frames "Luxury" challenge.
I struggled with this challenge a bit, and couldn't come up with an idea I liked. I eventually pulled this together this evening in the run up to the deadline, and I don't mind it, which I think is about as good as I'm going to manage to get on this one!
I'd initially gone for a shot of just the wine rack, with very shallow depth of field, and the focus on the bottle tops, but that really felt like something was missing.
I eventually put the glass in the foreground, and the shot immediately had a story to it and made more sense.

I think it would be interesting to recreate this shot in a real wine cellar with a bit more distance between the glass and the bottles.

River Gade / Walk The Plank

Click image to view a bigger version

I had a rather peaceful walk along a short stretch of the river Gade this afternoon with my in-laws.
I enjoyed seeing a stretch of the river I've not been to before.
The second frame (after the jump) is a rather rickety-looking bridge we passed. Unsurprisingly, it's blocked off by a locked gate!

I took a (surprisingly chilly) outing to the river this evening, and took the opportunity to sling the drone up for a few minutes. I was quite pleased with this one.
I thought a bit of variety was in order after all the flowers and trees I've inflicted on you recently.

Exception / Sunny Spot

Click image to view a bigger version

Another bluebell trip with a friend today, this time to Harlaxton Manor. They have a superb bluebell wood, with one of the largest displays I've seen.
Large parts of it really have the immersive "blue gas" feel.
Lots of ferns in there too.

I need to try and shoot an emerging fern, they're otherworldly looking things.
another one after the jump.

Fallen Giant

Click image to view a bigger version

I went for a walk with Bailey and co today, where I came across this tree that has fallen over. I found the incredibly shallow root structure on such a large tree intriguing.
The dog tax is duly paid after the jump (although only a phone photo this time).

Now There Is Rain

Click image to view a bigger version

The long dry spell broke with a rather nice thunderstorm followed by an evening of rain. I'm sure the plants and gardeners will be happy. I, however, am slightly damp.
This was my 500th post on Instagram. Not sure how I got here, but here, evidently, I am.
Owing to being a muppet who left the R5 at his parents' house, I had to fall back on the trusty old 6D II tonight. Still a lovely camera, but it doesn't half make a noise when you fire the shutter!
